Another eventful weekend and the Sunday evening return trip cold have been better. Tom was clearly tired but still he wasn't happy about going back to school. We thought this would be better for all, sadly it was still distressing.
And doubly sadly, we'd neglected to take his favourite cuddly toys.
Still, when he met up with some of his friends, he perked right up; and we know from staff that his distress is not full-time.
Monday evening, I take the two cuddly toys into him. He's busy finishing off prep when I arrive. His handwriting is beautiful. We talk about his day and he tells me he missed some of a lesson because he was fitted for his 'Eden Suit' (he meant 'Eton Suit'). This he tells me is a special outfit he'll wear on special occasions and services. He's so proud. So am I, just not too sure how he'll get on with that collar! Tom's still not happy when the bell goes and I get up to go. One of the school nurses cuddles him up and he's off.
I leave just as he goes up to get ready for bed, I'm sure I catch sight of him and now he's skipping along.
The next day, Mum calls in to get contact details for his teacher - we still haven't been able to connect with her. To Mum's amazement (maybe it's just good timing, sh gets put through.
She says how well he's doing, still a little teary and apparently carrying around a photo with him (of mum or us we assume). He's very sensitive. We thank her for letting him send a card to us the previous week, and for her note. It seems like she's glad for the thanks - in fact they're such a lovely bunch.
I forgot Seb's cuddly toy the first night of boarding.....oh what good are we as parents I ask myself!
